Five people, four of them Chinese and one of them Australian, were accused and found guilty of committing fraud. The group performed the scam at Jupiter’s Casino located on the Gold Cost. They played at the mini baccarat table in the members-only Club Conrad.

The five players acted together and substituted playing cards by stealing the genuine casino cards and, losing games on purpose and then manipulating other games in order to let the group members win.

The felons took a total of $765,000 but the casino acted soon enough to stop a $400,000 cheque from being cashed and some of the funds were frozen. The judge ordered $115,000 be repaid to the casino.
