Sheldon Adelson, a multibillionaire business man from the gambling industry sector is now pointing to India and Singapore as the target to its millionaire investments; since he has recently announced his intentions to build a Cotai Strip in India and other projects for the Asian market.
“I would like to build a Cotai Strip in India” said Adelson on his way to Macao for the opening of the Four Seasons Hotel, where he met with India’s ministers of tourism and commerce. Interviewed by an Indian reporter in Macao, the multibillionaire business man referred to the potential of India as a destiny for the investments of the gambling industry; about this matter he said “it could be a Las Vegas equivalent. If its government wants to invites us here, we’ll be happy to compromise ourselves with U$S 12 mil - U$S 14 mil million.”
He also added: “We would like to build a Cotai Strip in India that does not affect Macao. Actually, the Indian Market, with a 1.100 million population, could be enough to justify more than one Cotai Strip”. The news service China Economic also informed that Adelson’s company is also considering the possibility of opening a Casino in Taiwan”.
Sheldon Adelson is currently the chairman and chief executive of Las Vegas Sands Corp., owner of The Venetian Macao Limited, which operates the Venetian Hotel and Casino and the Sands Expo Convention center. His fortune has been estimated in US$ 26.5 billion, which placed him in the third place for the richest person ranking in the United Stated in 2007.
